Case study: we let Coder Bob rebuild one of our own websites

We gave Bob the address of ai-annie.com and nothing else. What he read, what he built in a few minutes — and what we learned about building sites by chat.

Before letting customers try Coder Bob, we tested him on a site we know well: ai-annie.com, the website of our colleague AI Annie. We gave Bob the address — nothing else — and watched what happened.

Step 1: Bob reads the site

Bob visited the home page and followed the menu to the other pages. He collected the texts and headings, the photos, the logo, the colours used in the design, and contact details — everything a new site needs.

Step 2: a plan and a style

For the test we chose “clean and modern” in Annie's own blue, and two pages: a home page and a “how it works” page. Bob decided the order of the sections, the fonts and the layout himself.

Step 3: Bob builds

Bob built the home page first — hero with Annie's photo, the promise, how it works in three steps, and a clear call to action — and then the second page in exactly the same design. A few minutes later, both pages were finished in the preview: fast, readable on a phone, with page titles and descriptions for Google already in place.

What we changed afterwards

The test also showed us what Bob needed to do better for normal users:

  • Ask before building. Bob now asks which style you want and whether you want anything else on the site — a booking button, a gallery, prices — before he starts.
  • Read more than one site. Many businesses have content spread over a Facebook page or an old site. You can now give Bob several addresses, plus one whose look you love.
  • Go live without tech. One button puts the site online, and Bob walks you through connecting your own domain in plain words.

Try it on your own site

Paste your website into Bob's chat and see what he makes. Not sure what to ask for? Start with what makes a good small business website.

Questions and answers

Did Bob copy the old website?
No. He reused the real content — texts, photos and colours — and built a new design and structure around it. He doesn't invent facts, prices or reviews.
How long did it take?
A few minutes from address to a finished two-page site in the preview — the home page first, then the next page in the same design.
Can I change what Bob builds?
Yes, by chatting: 'make the top darker', 'add our opening hours', 'use the photo of the shop'. Every change can be undone.
